urban_league_logo_edited.png

We are an auxiliary of the The Urban League of Greater Columbus and considered to be the

heart and soul of the Urban League movement. Our members come from all walks of life and

we engage in volunteer activities and raise funds on behalf of the Urban League to help the

underserved in the community. The Columbus Urban League Guild has been working to make a

difference in the community for years. If you are interested in using your talents and skills in

service to others in the community, we invite you to join us in supporting the Urban League’s

mission to empower the community and change lives.

As an auxiliary of the Urban League of Greater Columbus, the goal of the Guild is to design

fundraising activities and develop volunteerism. This approach enhances the League’s financial

potential while promoting the programmatic thrust on both the local and national level.

The National Council of Urban League Guilds is composed of volunteer auxiliaries of the

National Urban League. The Urban League Guild was started in New York City in 1942 by Mrs.

Mollie Moon to raise funds in support of the Urban League’s mission. Since starting the Guild,

the organization has grown to thousands of volunteers in 43 chapters around the country.

Throughout its 75 year history, the Guild has played a significant role in the Urban League

movement. Guild members are considered to be the heart and soul of the UrbanLeague

movement as they fundraise for their local affiliates, contribute thousands of volunteer hours

annually and give back to the community in a variety of ways.

Our membership includes individuals from all walks of life. We are laborers, educators, entrepreneurs, professionals and retirees. As members of the Guild, we do volunteer work on behalf of the Urban League without the expectation of pay or tangible gain. We volunteer because we care about the community and seek ways where we can make a meaningful impact in areas such as financial literacy, job readiness, health and wellness, and youth education. We also promote awareness of the Urban League in the community by participating in volunteer events ranging from feeding the homeless to Blood Drives.  Through our good work, we strengthen the Urban League’s capacity to meet the needs

of the community it serves.

We are looking for new members that are committed to making a difference in the lives of others in our community. As a member of the Columbus Urban League Guild, it offers you the opportunity to:

  • Expand your business and professional network, and connect with individuals from all walks of life.
